The Department of Biological and Molecular Sciences welcomed Aaron Sullivan as a professor of biology in 2022. He arrived from Houghton College in New York, where he worked as chair of the Department of Biology (2013-22) and director of the college’s First-Year Science Honors program (2017-21). That came after he served as an associate professor (2004-11) and as an assistant professor (2004-11) at the school.
At Houghton, Sullivan specialized in teaching courses in animal behavior, animal ecology, biodiversity, general biology, and herpetology, among other subjects. Previously, he gained teaching experience at Binghamton University (SUNY) in Binghamton, New York, where he was an instructor in the university’s Department of Biological Sciences (2004) and a National Science Foundation K-12 Teaching Fellow (2003-04).

Sullivan and his wife Sunshine have a daughter, Adelaide, and a son, Canaan. He enjoys coffee, nature photography, hiking, kayaking, cycling, and fly fishing.
