What Is Healthcare Administration?
Healthcare administration professionals administer, lead and manage healthcare systems. The field incorporates a wide variety of jobs in medical facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other related healthcare organizations. As a healthcare administrator, your responsibilities may include managing the finances, human resources, and daily operations in these settings.

Our Curriculum: A Combination of Theory and Practice
Balancing practice and theory, our curriculum is aligned with a competency model based on the Health Leadership Competency Model from the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL). These national proficiencies are integrated into each of the learning outcomes in our healthcare administration curriculum.
Our program blends the tools and techniques advocated by the NCHL into a complete study of theory and guided practice used by successful healthcare managers and leaders. The curriculum includes a wide variety of learning opportunities that will explore the three areas of healthcare leadership:
- Professional transformation
- Optimizing organizational performance, and
- Leading people
Credit Requirements
62 semester credit hours must be completed to enter a major. To graduate with a bachelor's degree, you must complete a total of 120 semester credit hours as follows:

Format
- The Healthcare Administration major is offered 100% online
- You will attend a synchronous cohort launch at the beginning of the major via Zoom, followed by 16 months of online course work in a cohort of peers
- All major courses are offered one at a time in a sequential, condensed, accelerated format

Emily Swann
Get to know our professors before you actually meet them!
Emily Swann began her teaching career at 麻豆社 Fox University in 2015. She holds a bachelor’s in business administration from University of Portland, a master’s in public health from Portland State University and a post-graduate certification as a health education specialist (CHES).
In addition to teaching at 麻豆社 Fox, Emily has worked in health education at Providence Health of Oregon for over 15 years and currently serves as the senior manager of education for Providence Medical Group. Emily is dedicated to engaging her students in their education and developing lifelong learners in the field of healthcare administration.
